GST (Goods and Services Tax) is a tax that most businesses in India need to pay. When you register for GST, you get a unique 15-digit number called GSTIN. This is like your business's tax identity card - you print it on your bills, use it to file returns, and it shows that your business is legitimate.
If your business earns more than ₹40 lakh a year (₹20 lakh for services) (per CGST Act Section 22), you must register for GST. But even if you earn less, getting GST registration can help - it lets you sell on Amazon and Flipkart, claim tax credits on your purchases, and do business with bigger companies who only work with GST-registered vendors.
Many of our clients get GST registration even before they hit the threshold — because it opens doors. Banks take you more seriously, e-commerce platforms accept you, and your business looks professional to customers.
If you skip GST registration when your turnover crosses the limit, the government can hit you with a penalty of ₹10,000 or the full tax amount due, whichever is higher (per CGST Act Section 122). On top of that, you will owe 18% annual interest on unpaid tax from the date it was due. The tax department actively tracks businesses through bank data and e-way bills, so it is not something you can avoid for long.
Once you get your GSTIN, you need to start filing returns right away, even if you have zero sales that month. Mark the GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B due dates on your calendar. If you are a small business, ask us about the QRMP scheme so you only file quarterly instead of monthly. We also help you set up your first invoice format and make sure your billing software has the correct HSN codes.
For businesses across India, GST registration is fully online through the official GST portal at gst.gov.in. You do not need to visit any government office. Whether you run a shop, a factory, or a service business, the entire process happens through the portal. We handle it from our end, and you get updates on WhatsApp.

Regular GST: You charge GST on every invoice and can claim input tax credit. Composition scheme: You pay a fixed percentage (1% to 6%) on your turnover but can't claim input credit and can't do interstate sales. Good for small local businesses. We'll help you decide which is better for your situation.

The GST law is the same across India. But if you sell goods to another state, you charge IGST instead of CGST and SGST. Also, the turnover threshold is ₹10 lakh (instead of ₹20 lakh) in some North-East and special category states. Most states follow the standard ₹40 lakh limit for goods.
